Fifty and two years since the day they first met, gentle grace from the Orient brought contentment to Bret, my friend I have known since we were both three, with dreams we set forth hoping hard for the key to success with life’s riches, Prince Charmings we learnt were to meet a Princess yet should luck not be with them then to settle for less. Bret’s fortune indeed was to meet his Princess, Cheow Khim Daisy Ong (well now wouldn’t you guess) a soul of delight who hailed from the East, so gentle so charming to calm a wild beast with cricketing bat Bret would swing at the ball with diminutive Khim who made him so tall. Their love being strong and faithful and true they married and settled in Coed Kerniuw. Then when Ian and Gnaeri came into their lives, Khim had more to contend with than just Bret and her chives. Khim had a green finger which she put to good use in their vegie small-holding in which Bret was set loose to help feed their two-legged and other small stock prepared for the table in Khim’s cooking crock. Yet others Khim tended whilst being a wife, as a GP in practice helping others in strife. Then one dismal day their life’s spell came to an end, Bret losing wife Khim, lover, mother, and friend, on the wind which had brought her to live life with him, she left Bret just with dreams of his dear Princess, Khim.
